Expressionism & Minimalism
What seems so naive and easy requires the very difficult approach of giving up control and expectation. Both Minimalist & Expressionist art is the language of modern interiors but it’s NOT as simple as you might think. Our tendency to complicate things and get bogged down in detail means we end up trying to make a perfect representation of the reference we are working. But, Expresionism means we lead with our heart with being hung-up on the outcome and Minimalism means we depart from that reference by simplifying, stripping back what isn’t necessary and choosing only the elements and colours we want to hum.
Both of these painting styles generally come after years of painting until you have developed the confidence, the eye and the restraint to understand truly that LESS IS MORE. Shani understands this and can save you years of exploration and allow you to launch from the heart.
With this approach YOU are the real hero in your own creative adventure and Shani is your mentor BUT she gives you the structure and guidance to set you on your path, removing the emotional blocks that get in the way and with demonstration, meditation, movement and music you go on the real journey of SELF expression and she coaches you through to a knock out result.
This is a journey in getting your head out of the way and leading with your heart and its suitable for everyone. You will come away centered, elevated, full and with a magnificent painting.

Formally trained in painting, printmaking, adult education and psycho-spirituality, Shani Alexander weaves her unique skill set into the design of her workshops, to offer you a painting experience that has you get a whole lot more than you expected than just your beautiful HERO painting. You will be fully immersed in colour, food, music and company and will enjoy the freedom to loosen up, soak up the energy of a working artist's studio, embrace colour and also get to know what ignites your artistic soul. And as always in our studio, we have the gentle presence of Florence, our working dog!
