Thank Your Mother For The Chickens
SOLO SHOW, April 2026

Storehouse 1-3 Inkerman Street St. Kilda

Known for her exuberant florals and transformational art programs, Shani unveils a bolder, more unrestrained voice in this new exhibition. Sparked by a country homestay and permission to raid her friend’s Spring garden, the work marks a shedding of the old. Painted to Mozart’s Requiem in a makeshift studio, Shani conducted her way across each canvas, surrendering to instinct and joy. Every mark stands whole and essential; remove one and the painting collapses, add one and chaos erupts. This tension between precision and abandon, structure and wildness, forms the heartbeat of the collection. It’s title nods to WWII bartering, when even small offerings held deep value, echoing the phrase spoken when receiving something precious: “You’re welcome.” The result is a powerful evolution—colour, freedom and a woman fully claimed.
